What the CEF Needs Most

There is one thing which will have the greatest improving effect on our community schools. This one thing will transform the education children in the Petauke area receive.

That one thing is that the teachers should be born again. All the teachers in the community school call themselves Christians. Whether they really are is another matter.

Giving children a good basic education and teaching them to read and to know Bible truths is worthwhile and has great potential effect even if the teachers are not true Christians. Nevertheless, such children are being presented everyday with a role-model who is an enemy of God, who is spiritually dead, living for himself as a slave to sin. We will leave it to your imagination to consider the practical ways the children will see this spiritual state worked out in the teachers’ daily life in a Zambian village context (where little can be kept private). Here’s a clue: spirit-worship and AIDS are rife.

What a difference it would make if these children were daily confronted by role-models who have been born again. They are new people, who know and love God; who bring Jesus into the classroom with them; who love the children because they love God, and have a biblical understanding of how to put that love into practice.

As that is what the CEF most needs, the way you can most help the CEF is to pray for teachers to be saved. Prayer is not a second-rate alternative when you cannot do anything else. It is the key to the greatest need Zambia has.
